GTS service a number of mines in New Zealand.

Global Tyre Services are on-site; and/or have a mobile repair unit that operates between a number of other mines, with the heavier equipment duplicated and left on site at the mines.

Macraes gold mine has been operational since 1990 and is situated in the Otago Gold fields at Macraes Flat. Macraes is the largest gold mine in New Zealand. GTS service a large fleet spread across 15 kilometres of undulating terrain.

GTS supplies a 100% on site service at the Macraes mine. We mount and demount all tyres (LDV’s, dump trucks, and auxiliary vehicles), repair tyres when necessary, train operators and run a management programme which provides mine operators with tyre costs when needed.

In 2006 GTS entered the New Zealand market to do repairs for Oceana. We identified 50 large OTR tyres that were discarded on the tyre dump of the mine. 32 of these were repaired and successfully returned to service. At this stage the mine had a vehicle on blocks due to a tyre shortage.

Oceana Gold’s Fraser Underground Mine is run by contractor Byrnecut. GTS does all OTR tyre repairs at their OGL Macraes mine repair facility. GTS inspect all tyres before they are sent for repairing.

Oceana Gold, Reefton is run by contractor Stracon. GTS does all OTR tyre repairs for this mine. Regular visits are made to this mine to evaluate the tyres that need removing and repaired. Tyres are then freighted by rail to GTS for repair. Primarily evaluating these tyres ensure there are no unnecessary freight cost.

GTS is currently performing on site repairs at the Macmahon, Waihi mine. We have all equipment on site, and bring the rest in with our mobile repair unit. All repairs are carried out on site. This means no transport cost or tyres being removed unnecessarily.

GTS is performing on site repairs at this mine. Together with the mine, we have set up shop with all equipment on site. Here too a great cost saving is made, with no transport cost. Tyres are evaluated on the mine.
